Dental Probing

After cleaning, the diagnosis of oral disease begins with a close visual inspection of the mouth and the use of a blunt dental probe to discover abnormal gum tissue, pockets of infection below the gumline, exposed roots, crown fractures and more. All findings are recorded in the patient’s permanent dental chart.

Dental Radiographs

Next, full mouth dental radiographs are obtained to expose disease processes of the tooth roots and associated bone, an area that accounts for the majority of patient pain and infection. All this information is needed to make a correct diagnosis and determine the most correct treatment. – Dental X-rays are the most economical technology to diagnose problems in the roots of the teeth and in the bone around d the teeth. –with this information, appropriate treatment is planned to make the mouth pain-free again.

Dental Treatment

Simple periodontal therapy with antibiotic oral gels and sealants can reverse superficial disease. Oral surgical procedures using nerve blocks, extraction techniques, bone grafting, gum tissue grafting and successful pain management are all available for more advanced disease. Referral to a veterinary dental specialist makes available advanced endodontic, periodontic and orthodontic procedures.
